Washer Maintenance Guide

90% of washer repairs we see in North Vancouver and Burnaby could have been prevented with these simple monthly habits.

1

Check Your Hoses

Inspect for bulges, cracks, or leaks every 6 months. Replace them every 5 years even if they look fine. Consider braided steel hoses for extra safety to prevent flooding.

2

Clean the Gasket

Front loaders are prone to mold. Wipe the rubber seal after every wash and leave the door slightly ajar to let air circulate properly.

3

Don't Overload

Overloading puts excessive strain on the motor, belt, and bearings. If you can't comfortably fit your hand in the drum above the clothes, it's too full.

4

Use Correct Detergent

Modern machines (especially HE units) require High-Efficiency detergent. Regular soap creates too many suds, damaging pumps and sensors over time.

5

Level the Machine

A washer that vibrates heavily can damage internal components. Use a level and adjust the legs until the unit is perfectly flat on the floor.
