Common Issues
The most common sign is a fridge that simply can't keep things cold, or a freezer packing on frost across its back wall and floor. You might find water collecting under the crisper drawers, hear the compressor running almost non-stop or short-cycling every few minutes, or notice the whole unit humming and vibrating more than it used to. An ice maker that's gone quiet, one compartment warm while the other stays cold, and beads of condensation around the door are all worth a look too.
We take temperature and airflow readings up front, then follow the fault through the system in a set order — condenser coils, condenser fan, door seals and defrost drain to begin with, then the evaporator fan, defrost heater, thermostat, start relay and compressor if it runs deeper. Because every component is tested before it's touched, you're not paying for parts that were never the problem. Worn gaskets, failed fan motors, burnt-out defrost heaters, weak relays and faulty boards get swapped for the right replacements, and any sealed-system or refrigerant fault is handled the way it should be. The visit isn't finished until the fridge is sitting at a steady, correct temperature again.
On the washing side, you'll see a machine that stops before draining, sits full of water, jumps or knocks violently on spin, leaks onto the floor, or won't take on water at all. On the drying side, the drum turns but the load comes out damp, you're running it twice to get anything dry, there's a squeal or grinding from inside, or a hot, lint-tinged smell coming off the vent that shouldn't be ignored.
Washers get checked from the drain pump, filter, inlet valves, pressure switch and door latch outward to the suspension, bearings, motor and control board. Dryers get the full airflow path, heating element or igniter, thermal fuse, thermostats, belt, rollers and blower wheel gone over in turn. We run each suspect part under real load so the actual cause shows itself, clear out any restricted venting, and install the correct pump, valve, latch, element, fuse, belt or bearing rather than a near-enough match. Then we put it through a live cycle to confirm it drains, spins, heats and turns over quietly before we leave.
You open the door to water still standing in the tub, or it never drains at all. Dishes come out spotted, filmy or sandy to the touch, detergent residue lingers, and there may be damp patches showing up low by the kickplate. A pump that sounds strained, a cycle stretching well past its normal length, or an error code that cuts things short are all common giveaways.
The filter, spray arms and jets, drain hose and pump are the first things we go through, followed by the inlet valve, door seal, float switch, heating element and control board. We clear whatever's blocking flow, strip out hard-water scale where it's collected, and replace the worn piece — a leaking seal, a stuck inlet valve, a failing pump, a cracked spray arm, a dead board — with the part it actually needs. A full hot cycle afterward confirms it fills, washes, drains and dries cleanly, with no water escaping where it shouldn't.
A gas burner that clicks over and over without lighting, catches slowly, or burns a soft yellow instead of a sharp blue is a frequent one. Electric elements can sit cold or heat unevenly, and induction zones may cut out or refuse to detect a pot. Ovens tend to drift off the set temperature, bake with hot and cold patches, take an age to preheat, or lose heat through a door that no longer shuts flush.
Gas units are checked at the igniter, spark module, burner ports, gas valve and safety valve; electric and induction at the elements, infinite switches, coils and sensors. For the oven itself we measure the real internal temperature against the dial, then look over the bake and broil elements or igniter, temperature sensor, control board and door gasket. Where it's drifting, we recalibrate; where a part has failed, igniters, elements, sensors, switches, valves and gaskets are replaced to code. We don't close out the job until every burner lights properly and the oven holds the temperature you've set.
