LG Fridge & Freezer Repair

Fridge runs constantly but stays warm inside

LG's Linear Compressor is prized for being quiet and efficient, but it's also the priciest single part to replace. Before assuming the worst, a blocked evaporator fan or coils caked in dust cause the identical warm-fridge complaint far more often.

Try first: Listen at the back for the compressor humming. Silence with the unit powered on points to the compressor, warm air with a running compressor points to the fan or coils instead.

Er FF or Er dh on the display

Er FF flags a fan problem, usually the evaporator fan seizing or getting choked with ice. Er dh points to the defrost heater giving out, which lets frost take over the back wall of the freezer.

Try first: Unplug for ten minutes to force a reset. A code that returns within a day or two means the fan motor or heater actually needs replacing.

Ice maker jams overnight

The slim in-door ice makers LG favours rely on an auger to push cubes into the bin, and it stalls easily once ice starts clumping instead of dropping free, especially during warmer, more humid stretches.

Try first: Clear the bin completely and break up any clumps by hand. Jamming again within a few days points to the auger motor or water valve.

Water pooling under the crisper drawers

Nearly every LG fridge leak traces back to a frozen or blocked defrost drain, usually triggered by a door left slightly open longer than anyone noticed.

Try first: Check both doors are sealing fully and nothing's propping them open. A door that won't seal is the top reason the drain freezes over in the first place.

Recent repair · Lower Lonsdale

LG Fridge Repair

An LG French-door fridge had gone completely silent on the compressor side over a weekend, and the homeowner was bracing for a costly compressor swap.

Diagnosis & fix

Start relay replaced, not the compressor

The compressor itself tested fine, the relay feeding it power had failed instead, a far simpler fix. Swapped it out and the fridge was holding temperature normally within a couple of hours. 90-day warranty applied.

LG Washer & Dryer Repair

OE error, won't drain

This is LG's drain code, and it almost always comes back to the small mesh filter behind the access panel at the bottom front, which quietly collects coins, lint, and the odd stray button until flow stops altogether.

Try first: Open the hatch, lay a towel down first since it holds water, and clear the filter by hand. Run a rinse cycle to confirm the fix held.

UE error or heavy shaking during spin

UE is LG's unbalanced load code, but a genuinely uneven wash isn't always to blame, worn suspension components or a foot that's lost contact with the floor trigger it just as often.

Try first: Redistribute the load and check all four feet sit flat. Still shaking on a small, balanced load points to the suspension needing attention.

Dryer runs but barely dries anything

A lint-choked exhaust duct is the usual suspect, and a common one, since LG dryers move a serious volume of air and even a partial blockage stretches drying time noticeably.

Try first: Disconnect the vent hose at the back and check for a solid lint plug. A full duct clean solves most of these calls on its own.

d90 or d80 code on the dryer display

Both codes mean the sensor has picked up on restricted airflow through the exhaust path, and it's rarely anything mechanical inside the dryer itself.

Try first: Check the outside vent cap isn't clogged with lint or blocked by debris. Clearing that is usually the entire fix.

Recent repair · Brentwood

LG Washer Repair

A front-load LG washer kept throwing an OE error partway through nearly every cycle, and the homeowner couldn't spot any obvious blockage looking into the drum.

Diagnosis & fix

Drain filter cleared

The filter was packed solid with lint and a small handful of coins. Cleared it out, ran two full cycles to confirm, and it's been draining normally since. 90-day warranty applied.

LG Dishwasher Repair

IE error, won't fill with water

LG dishwashers throw this when the float switch isn't registering water properly, and sometimes that's as simple as the float cup getting stuck under a stray utensil that fell the wrong way.

Try first: Check the small float at the front base of the tub moves freely up and down. Clearing whatever's blocking it solves this more often than not.

OE error, standing water after the cycle

A clogged filter basket or a pinched drain hose under the sink are the two likeliest reasons, and LG's filter fills up faster than average with heavy food debris if it's skipped for a few months.

Try first: Pull and rinse the filter basket, then check the drain hose isn't kinked behind the cabinet. Clean the filter monthly to stay ahead of it.

Dishes still dirty after a full cycle

The spray arm jets clog gradually with mineral scale, especially in harder water areas, and once enough are blocked the water pressure across the rack just isn't what it used to be.

Try first: Unclip the arms, clear each jet with a toothpick, and run a hot cycle with dishwasher cleaner. Results that don't improve point to the wash pump wearing out.

AE error, leak detected

LG's base pan has a leak sensor that halts the cycle the instant it senses moisture, which protects the floor but also means even a minor drip anywhere in the system stops everything.

Try first: Tilt the unit forward slightly to drain the pan and dry it fully. An AE error that clears once but keeps returning means there's an active leak worth tracing.

Recent repair · Austin Heights

LG Dishwasher Repair

Dishes were coming out with a gritty film on almost every load, and the homeowner had already tried switching detergent brands twice without any change.

Diagnosis & fix

Spray arm jets cleared

Mineral buildup had clogged most of the nozzles on both spray arms. Cleared them out and confirmed spotless results on the very next load. 90-day warranty applied.

LG Stove & Oven Repair

Burner won't ignite

LG gas ranges use an electronic igniter behind each burner, and food residue or a bit of moisture around the electrode is the single most common reason it stops sparking reliably.

Try first: Remove the cap and grate, clean thoroughly around the igniter tip, and let it dry fully before testing again. Still not lighting after that means the igniter needs swapping.

SmoothTouch controls stop responding

LG's capacitive touch panels on electric ranges can go unresponsive from a thin film of moisture, a small spill, or general wear once a unit's had a few years of daily use.

Try first: Wipe the panel completely dry and try again, since even moisture you can't see can interfere. Ongoing unresponsiveness after that points to the touch control board.

Oven won't reach the set temperature

A failing bake element is the most likely cause on electric LG ovens, though on ProBake Convection models a struggling fan motor can produce a similar underheated result.

Try first: Watch the bake element through the window while preheating. No visible glow after several minutes confirms it needs replacing.

Uneven baking on convection settings

ProBake Convection relies on the rear fan circulating air evenly, and a fan running weak or intermittently causes exactly the patchy, one-side-done results people usually blame on their own baking.

Try first: Listen for the fan specifically during a convection bake. Silence or a grinding noise both point to the fan motor needing attention.

Recent repair · Westwood Plateau

LG Oven Repair

A ProBake Convection oven had started producing noticeably uneven results on every bake, browned on one side and pale on the other, despite years of even performance before.

Diagnosis & fix

Convection fan motor replaced

The fan was running intermittently, barely audible but enough to disrupt airflow across the cavity. Replaced it and confirmed even browning with a test bake before finishing up. 90-day warranty applied.
